Kalel Chan
Chef Kalel Chan is a Manila-based chef and restaurateur, serving as corporate chef of The Raintree Restaurant Group and a brand ambassador for Doña Elena olive oil. Raised in La Union in a household that prized its Chinese heritage and Ilocano cooking, he came up around whole-animal butchery and home kitchens running multiple culinary traditions, developing a deep early curiosity about where food comes from. His portfolio spans a growing range of concepts including The Split BGC, Friends and Family BGC, Farmers Table Tagaytay, Chacha's Boracay, and Saboten BGC. A vocal champion of Philippine cuisine, he believes the moment for Filipino food to be shared with the world is now, and cooks with the restless, border-crossing appetite of someone who has always refused to be confined to a single tradition.
